President's
Message: Summer 2009
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is a great honor for me to share with you my first message to our membership as President of Beta Mu.
I am humbled that you have entrusted the leadership of this organization to me, and remain profoundly
grateful for the mentoring of Becky Hull, our past president, and for the many accomplishments our
chapter achieved during her watch. Your Board is working on fine tuning chapter goals that will align
with International’s “Vision 2020.” One of our goals is to enhance communication with our membership
via an updated website and consistent publication of our chapter newsletter. We will be publishing
our newsletter twice annually, Spring-Summer and Fall-Winter. We hope you will enjoy our “new look,”
and encourage you to take a moment to forward any items of interest to any Board member, to be included
in our publication.
In an effort to make our chapter even better, we need involvement from our membership. I clearly
understand how busy everyone is, but you all have so many unique talents that can make a difference
in the growth and quality of our chapter. Additionally, involvement in our honor society not only
enhances our chapter goals, but provides personal and professional satisfaction. As you have heard many
times……it takes a village! There are many service opportunities available, and we certainly welcome
any ideas you might have about improving our chapter. There are so many ways for you to become involved,
get to know your professional colleagues, and share our interest and commitment in nursing excellence.
Thank you for this opportunity, and I look forward to working with all of you.
Warm Regards,
Peggy MacMacken, RN, MS, NEA-BC, President, Beta Mu Chapter, Honor Society of Nursing, STTI
